His practice has seen the creation of permanent and temporary environmental art, both in the UK and abroad. He has designed and constructed theatre sets for several theatre companies and Andy holds a full time, Art & Design Lecturer post at South Staffordshire College, graduating from Staffordshire University with a Master’s Degree in Fine Art in 2009.
Land Art, Environmental Sculpture
The opportunity to design and construct large scale public sculpture has allowed for community participation and the exploration of a wide range of materials and processes. The site-specific nature of these environmental-land art interventions, seek to explore the associations, histories and relationships that exist between the members of the general public, specific environments and the passing of the seasons, marked by the effects of new growth and slow decay.
White Cube Gallery
Another significant aspect of Andy’s' work is the White Cube Gallery where contemporary site-related exhibitions, explore the commonplace. Familiar everyday things that are often overlooked and taken for granted, yet at the same time are seemingly indispensable and necessary to the way we interact and engage with the world. The internal architecture of these artificially lit, atmosphere controlled spaces, are used as a platform for presenting appropriated objects that are re-evaluated and have been edited to reveal new insights and a fresh perspective.
